Wisconsin Tibetan Association will be having a Tibetan Language and Cultural School Summer Camp from August 11 – 15, 2018 in Madison, Wisconsin. It is a 5 day program, sponsored by Tibet Fund, New York in partnership with Office of Tibet, Washington, DC.
This program is the outcome of the efforts put in by Tibetan Associations in North America to promote Tibetan language and culture amongst the growing younger generation, starting at an early age. The summer camp provides the children with an opportunity to immerse themselves in their culture, understand and strengthen their appreciation for their roots besides getting to know and make new friends without the distraction of the everyday school activities. The main focus of the camp is the introduction to Tibetan language classes (reading/writing/oral conversation), Tibetan Buddhism and its relevance to compassion, respect, kindness, tolerance etc. and other interesting topics related to the culture. We also teach Tibetan Songs, dance and music too. Efforts are being made to make it an interesting and worthwhile experience with knowledgeable speakers. This camp is open to all Tibetan children regardless of whether they attend the weekend Saturday Language school or not. Please contact the School Administrator: Kalsang Gyatso la @ firstname.lastname@example.org or 608-236- 2874 with the names and details of the children wishing to attend the camp.
To make this camp interesting as well as a success with fun filled programs, we need help from the community. Please let us know if you could volunteer a few hours for teaching and other activities. Also, if there are any members willing to provide lunch either on 8/13 (Monday) or 8/15 (Wednesday), please contact Kalsang Gyatso la, Saturday Language teacher or me. WTA will provide healthy snacks/drinks to all participants during the duration of the camp. There will approx 60 students, 10-12 Teachers, resource person and volunteers for 5 days.
