The Weekend Tibetan Language and Culture School was started in October 1999 by the Wisconsin Tibetan Association. The Wisconsin Tibetan Association is one of the many Tibetan Associations that were part of the Tibetan Resettlement in the United States beginning in 1992. As an Association of the Tibetan community in Wisconsin, its purpose is preservation and promotion of Tibetan culture, freeing Tibet, and helping Tibetans who need assistance as envisioned by His Holiness the Dalai Lama and the Central Tibetan Administration in Dharamsala, India. It is a 501 © (3) non-profit organization.

The weekend Tibetan Language and Culture School shoulders the responsibility of preservation and promotion of Tibetan language and culture. The many pressures and distractions of our present day world present a challenge as we strive to preserve the language and traditions of the Tibetan culture while still living in the present. It is crucial that we raise a generation of children in exile who are committed to preserving the precious aspect of Tibetan culture in order to prevent its disappearance.
